VISUALS: Old, abandoned buildings, monuments, and structures, especially where nature has reclaimed man`s "Progress." LIFE: personal experience and social/ religious awareness issues, such as non-relevance of the Church, (see my image)historical events and shapings, and autism awareness. About myself: Hard-working family man by day, lyricist and occasional songwriter by night. Former (baritone) member of several choral groups from 1983-1990; former lead singer and lyricist for "Self-Defense Initiative"(parody band) and "Doxology" (Christian contemporary cover band); former bass player and BGVs for "Refiner`s Fire" (worship band), "Trailer Park Prophets" (Original/cover band) and "Something Wicked" (Original rock). I`m a recovering churchaholic, and an advocate of autism awareness, as I have Asperger`s Syndrome, also known as high-functioning autism. Just for everyone wondering out there, I have a melody for most (but not all) of my songs, but I have a flawed computer and lack the money to fix it; hence, I lack the proper resources to download an mp3 file. Thank God for sheet music! My long-range intent is to continue to improve as a songwriter through practice, and eventually to digitally record an album or 2. I already have a concept album idea under development, "The Closet Chronicles," which you can find out about at www.myspace.com/thatwasthen08. The lyrics I write cover a range of topics. "Closet" tells what it`s like to be autistic; "Abandon Ship" talks about my not-so-good experience with organized religion, and "Wound" deals with not meeting other`s expectations. Often times, with songs like "Bearing Precious Cargo" or "Ode to Centralia," the inspiration comes from just seeing an object or a picture, and then 2 or 3 lines will pop into my head. I quickly jot them down (Yes, even if I`m driving!) and then take that bit home and develop it later. Inspiration is all around you, if you look for it. Lyrics 1.
